Winner of Powerball's second-highest prize of $1.765 billion disclosed
The recipient of the second-largest Powerball jackpot prize worth $1.765 billion was unveiled on Friday, marking a significant revelation five months after the life-altering draw.
Theodorus Struyck emerged as the representative of a
consortium that purchased the billion-dollar ticket at a market in Frazier
Park, California, for the October 11 drawing, as announced by the California
Lottery.
The California Lottery did not disclose the number of individuals involved in the winning group.
The group has the option to receive the $1.765 billion in 30 installments over 29 years or opt for a one-time cash sum of $774.1 million.
Under California regulations, the winner's full name along with the business name and location where the ticket was sold must be revealed.
The winning numbers were 22, 24, 40, 52, 64, with the red Powerball number 10.
The odds of clinching the Powerball grand prize stand at a staggering 1 in 292,201,338.
The historic $1.765 billion jackpot emerged after 36 Powerball draws, generating $18 million in commissions and bonuses during the three-month jackpot streak.
This victory contributed an additional $119.5 million to public schools, noted the California Lottery.
California Lottery Director Harjinder K. Shergill Chima remarked, "Announcing big wins like this gives all of our players the chance to hope and dream that they could be next."
Midway Market, a family-owned business located 75 miles
north of Los Angeles in Kern County, received $1 million for selling the
winning ticket, with owner Nidal "Andy" Khalil expressing excitement
about the monumental event.
